Behind the scenes at Zebra PR: Our current focus

Posted on February 5, 2025 Categories: Blog Tags: , ,

This isn’t a ‘New Year’ type blog about the year ahead (plus, we’ve missed the boat for that anyway now it’s February!) but things are happening at Zebra, and we want to honour our ethos of being transparent and get them down on paper (or screen) here for you to know about. Plus, spelling them out like this helps us as well – we’re huge believers that until something is in writing, it’s not a plan, just a thought!

We’re taking steps to refine, improve and be even more intentional with our time, clients and growth.

We thrive on flexibility and the freedom to be creative, but we also know that structure is the backbone of efficiency. We’ve implemented improvements to how we track and monitor our time, how we schedule work and meetings, and how we block days to ensure we remain both productive and adaptable.

This is an ongoing process, and we’ll be very honest in that it’s something we have struggled with in the past – we’re very good at booking up the diary but not looking at the bigger picture of what that means for the weeks and months! We know that to be the best we can be for everyone we serve, we must be realistic with our diary management.

If this sounds familiar – this is your reminder to do the same!

We’re also scheduling personal development reviews with each other to hold ourselves fully accountable to our own growth. Incorporated into how we monitor our time is tracking the time we spend upskilling and doing courses – working in digital marketing this is crucial, and if the hours ever look a little low in this area, we know we need to adjust.

Keeping policies up to date isn’t fun, but it is important. For example, we wrote our AI policy when it was something new to general use – now there are more options out there and so many ways of using it, we have updated the policy to reflect this. These are also documents we’re happy to share publicly – if anyone does want some light bedtime reading of our policies, please shout!

Our clients are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re ensuring they have our full focus and attention. Each client has a marketing plan for 2025 that we are excited to work with them to roll out. As a part of our improved monitoring, we are making ourselves more available to clients and for creativity in our approaches. Our absolute priority is the growth of our clients and building long-term partnerships with them.

We are actively looking at more networking, collaborations and attending events. These connections are key to learning, growing, and bringing new opportunities to Zebra PR. This includes charitable support and sponsorship of things that we believe important.

If you would have asked us a few years ago if Zebra was ever going to have an office, we’d have most likely said no chance! But whilst we love remote working, we’re ready for a dedicated home for Zebra HQ!

We have a couple of exciting options, though they do need full renovation, so it might be a few months before we’re in! We’re also pretty picky with where we choose (if you know us, we’re sure this won’t be a surprise!). We want it to feel comfortable and inspiring, have a nice view, and be somewhere we can take the dogs and Linz and Bec’s little boys in on occasion. Watch this space as we’ll take you along on the progress!

We strongly believe in not gatekeeping marketing advice—the more we share, the better all businesses can grow! This comes through creating more space for our own marketing and content creation. We want to help as many businesses as possible with practical, real-world marketing support, so stay tuned for some new style content coming your way, including the return of The Joys of Marketing podcast in the spring.

We know this sounds a lot and that’s why we’re also currently aware of there being a fourth member of team Zebra in the pipeline. We don’t have a description or vacancy at present, but we are starting to get our heads together on the type of support we need next. We don’t just want to hire for the sake of hiring—we want to bring in the right people at the right time. We’re taking a thoughtful approach to growing our team, ensuring that we’re building a business that feels right for us and continues to serve our clients even better.

It’s an exciting time and we are loving our business more than ever. If you are also at a stage within your business where you’re making plans or taking decisions around growth, we’re here as a sound board and we understand.

It’s not always easy owning and growing a business (or everyone would do it!) – but we wouldn’t change it for the world!

Love,

Becky & Lindsey
